Description of key information

The bioconcentration factor (BCF) values of representative constituents of the test substance have been predicted using the EPISUITE v4.11 BCFBAF (2017) model.


The submodel described by Meylan et al. (1997, 1999) predicted BCF-values that range between 3.16 and 1501 L/kg (regression-based estimate). 


The submodel described by Arnot and Gobas (2003, 2008) predicted BCF values that ranged from 0.9075 - 590.5 L/kg ww for the upper trophic level, from 0.9481 - 814 L/kg ww for the mid trophic level, and from 0.957 - 897.7 L/kg ww for the lower trophic level.


Since the submodel by Arnot and Gobas also includes mechanistic processes for bioconcentration and bioaccumulation such as chemical uptake from the water at the gill surface (BCFs and BAFs) and chemical elimination at the gill surface, fecal egestion, growth dilution and metabolic biotransformation (EPIsuite v4.11 online help-ch. 7.1), these values were considered most relevant. The highest value predicted by this model (897.7 L/kg ww, C16 fatty alcohol component, upper trophic level) is therefore considered as key value.


For all constituents the predicted BCF values were below 2000 L/kg ww and the test substance is not expected to have a high bioaccumulation potential.
