Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No tests on soil organisms are available for 2-isocyanatoethyl methacrylate. However, according to the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment (chapter R.7c, Endpoint Specific Guidance, ECHA 2012) there is no need for soil toxicity testing if the substance belongs to soil Hazard Category 1 and the PEC/PNECscreen (based on equilibrium partitioning method) ratio is < 1. Since, 2-isocyanatoethyl methacrylate (CAS 30674-80-7) and its hydrolysis products 2-aminoethyl methacrylate (CAS 7659 -36 -1) and N,N'-[2-(2-Methyl-2-propenoic acid) ethyl ester] urea (CAS 86219 -64 -9) show no potential for adsorption (log Kow < 2), are not persistent based on ready biodegradability and demonstrate no indication that the substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms (EC/LC50s > 10 mg/l), the substance belongs to soil Hazard Category 1. Finally, the risk assessment for 2-isocyanatoethyl methacrylate (CAS 30674-80-7) shows that the PEC/PNECscreen ratio is < 1 (please refer to Chapter 9 and 10 of the Chemical Safety Report for detailed information). Therefore, toxicity to soil organisms is not expected. Thus, according to the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment (chapter R.7c, Endpoint Specific Guidance, ECHA 2012) no toxicity testing of soil organisms is required.
