Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Performed according to OECD guideline. No deviations were reported.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: Melting and boiling point are measured using the photocell method. The instrument used is a Buchi M- 565, with a measurement range of 10°C to 400°C +/- 0.3 to 0.5°C and a resolution of 0.1°C
Melting / freezing pt.:
-91 °C
Atm. press.:
1 atm
Decomposition:
no
Remarks on result:
other: No freezing observed at temperatures as low as -91C
Conclusions:
There was no freezing point evident on the cooling curve or melting point evident on the heating curve.
The absence of a freezing or melting point could be attributed to a freeze point below -90°C, the instrument lower detection limit or the sample maybe amorphous whereby the viscosity increases slowly but the material does not crystallize.

Description of key information

No freezing observed at temperatures as low as -91C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-91 °C
