Description of key information

Considering the chemical structure of the substance and taking Appendix 6 of UN regulation for the use of screening procedures to assess explosive properties and the ECHA Endpoint specific guidance (R.7a) into consideration, cerium trichloride is considered not to contain any chemical groups indicating explosive properties.

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Following a theoretical assessment it is concluided that there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule. Cerium trichloride is concluded to be non explosive. This results in an absence of classification under both DSD and CLP systems.
