Conclusion on classification

The toxicity tests on fish, daphnia and algae after short-term exposure discloses LC50/EC50/IC50 more than 1 mg/L. So the 2 -Methoxymethyl-p-phenylenediamine (MBB) is not classified for Acute Aquatic Hazard.

Concerning its chronic effects evaluated on the 3 trophic levels (Fish, daphnia and algae), the lowest NOEC is obtained on daphnia with a value of 0.312 mg/L. Since the MBB is not rapidly biodegradable and the chronic toxicity is between 0.1 and 1 mg/L, then this substance is classified for the environment as chronic category 2.
