Description of key information

The water solubility of MBB was 84.9 g/L at 20±0.5°C and a pH of 7.35 in a buffer solution, and 284 g/L at 20.15°C and a pH of 8.87in double distilled water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
284 g/L
at the temperature of:
20.15 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of 2-Methoxymethyl-p-phenylenediamine (MBB) was determined following OECD guideline 105 (flask method), using buffer and double distilled water. In both cases, the test mixtures were preincubated at 30±0.5°C with constant stirring at 300 rpm. After 24, 48 and 72 h, flasks were reduced to test temperature (20±0.5°C). Samples were taken 24 h after transfer to the test temperature and analyzed by HPLC-DAD.

Buffer solution:

The test material was added to buffer solution (pH 7) (425 g/L) in Erlenmeyer flasks. The water solubility of 2-Methoxymethyl-p-phenylenediamine (MBB) was 84.9 g/L at 20±0.5°C and a pH value of 7.35.

Double distilled water:

The test material was added to double distilled water (1666.7 g/L) in amber glass flasks. The water solubility of 2-Methoxymethyl-p-phenylenediamine (MBB) was 284 g/L at 20.15°C and a pH value of 8.87.
