Additional information

One valid key study is available to assess the toxicity of Chimexane NB toward the juvenile Rainbow trout. This study was performed according to OECD Guideline 215 and EU Method C.14 with GLP statement. The aim of the study was to assess the long term toxicity to fish over a period of 28d, under flow-through conditions with constant renewal of the test media.

Five concentrations (nominal 0.0427, 0.0941, 0.207, 0.455 and 1.00 mg/L) plus control were used with 16 fish per test concentration. Concentrations were analytically verified via LC-MS/MS at the day -1, 0 and weekly until the end of the experiment. The recoveries of the test item were in the range of 60% to 169% of the nominal values. Based on these results, all effect levels are given based on mean measured test item concentrations (0.0432, 0.0751, 0.154, 0.446 and 0.868 mg/L).

Daily observation of the fish was carried out with respect to lethal and non-lethal effects. Weights of the fish were determined on days 0 and 28. Water quality parameters, temperature, pH value, oxygen saturation and total hardness were within the acceptable limits.

Statistical evaluations on significant differences carried out with the pseudo-specific growth rates and body weight did not detect any statistically significant differences at all concentrations.

In conclusion, Chimexane NB did not cause any effect on fish growth at all test concentrations after 28 days of exposure. The 28d-NOEC was >= 0.868 mg/L.
