Description of key information

The log of the adsorption coefficient (koc) of GM102E was estimated in a test according to the OECD guideline 121 using a HPLC/UV-VIS method.

The adsorption of GM102E was investigated in a test performed according the OECD guideline 121 and in compliance with GLP.

The adsorption coefficient was determined using a HPLC/UV-VIS method by comparison between the retention time of the test item (injected 3 times) and the retention times of a mixture of reference substances (injected 6 times). The sodium nitrate was used as an inert substance for the determination of the dead time.

The retention times were used to determine the capacity factor k’. As the retention time of the test item was longer than the highest retention time of the reference substances, the log Koc was extrapolated from a regression curve (log k' vs. log Koc).

The adsorption coefficient obtained with the regression curve was 5,4.108and the corresponding log Koc was 8.74.

The estimated Koc shows that the substance should be immobile in soil. Nevertheless, the estimated log Koc is outside the range of log Koc of reference substance and is higher than the range accepted for the method (log Koc = 1.5 – 5). The test item is positively charged and the long retention times could be attributed to a strong specific interaction with polar groups of the column used rather than to the adsorption on organic carbon.
