Additional information

The short term toxicity to both freshwater and saltwater fish has been determined in four studies, provided as a weight of evidence to address this endpoint.

Thorn 1999, Thorn & Bussard 1999 and Thorn & Bussard 1999a were all performed as a limit test at a measured concentration of 103 mg ai/L. Woodyer & Wallace 2001 was also performed as a limit test but at the nominal concentration of 120 mg/L. Under the conditions of the test no mortalities, abnormal behaviours or systemic signs of toxicity were observed in any of the four studies and thus the LC₅₀ was determined to be greater than the concentration tested > 103 mg/L (reported as mg ai/L, active ingredient, values were corrected for sample purity) and > 120 mg/L, respectively. The NOEC was determined to be the tested concentration 103 mg/L (reported as mg ai/L, active ingredient, values were corrected for sample purity) and 120 mg/L, respectively.

All four studies were performed according to GLP, in line with standardised guidelines, with a high standard of reporting and have thus been assigned a reliability score of 1 in line with the principles for assessing data quality set out by Klimisch (1997). The available data are considered to be complete and the conclusion for short term toxicity to both marine and freshwater fish, LC₅₀ > 103 mg/L (reported as mg ai/L, active ingredient, values were corrected for sample purity), was taken forward for risk assessment based on the worst case scenario.
