Description of key information

Determination of the Melting Point / Melting Range of bis(2,3-epoxypropyl) terephtha-late (57771180)
(GLP compliant study based on the Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, A.1, 2008, OECD No. 102, 1995 and OPPTS 830.7200, March 1998)
Author: Andrea Fieseler
Study Completion Date: November 01, 2010

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
99 °C

Additional information

The determination of the melting point was performed by visual judgement using the capillary method.

The melting started at 99 °C (stage A) and the shrinking point (stage B) observed immediately after. The collapse point (stage C) and the liquefying point (stage D) occurred at 101 °C and 102 °C, respectively. At 105 °C the final stage of melting (stage E) was reached and no particles were left.

In conclusion, the test item bis(2,3-epoxypropyl) terephthalate melted in the range of 99 °C to 105 °C (372 K to 379 K).
