Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

2.8.2011 - 4.11.2001
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Key result
Type:
Pow
Partition coefficient:
0.038
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
>= 4.14 - <= 4.16
Remarks on result:
other: the pH is given for the aqueous phase, resulting from 5 independant measurements

Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
-1.42
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
>= 4.14 - <= 4.16
Remarks on result:
other: the pH is given for the aqueous phase, resulting from 5 independant measurements
Details on results:
The octanol solubility of test substance was determined to be 4.1 mg/L, and the water solubility was 109 mg/L. So Pow=4.1/109=0.03761, and logP = -1.42.
Conclusions:
The partition coefficinet of the test item was determined to be -1.42 (25 °C).

Description of key information

The partition coefficinet of the test item was determined to be -1.42 (25 °C).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-1.42
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The partition coefficient was estimated by determination of the solubility of test substance in water and octanol separately (the water solubility was tested and reported using shake flask method independently, which is 109 mg/L at 25 °C). The octanol solubility was determined to be 4.1 mg/L in this test, thus, the logPow is estimated to be -1.42, indicating the test substance is far more soluble in water than in octanol.
