The main degradation pathway in the environment for this test substance is reaction with tropospheric hydroxyl radicals (Schmoltner et al., 1994). The atmospheric lifetime of the substance was determined to be 23 years (Schmoltner et al., 1994) corresponding to a half-life (t(1/2) =1n2*23) of 15.9 years. Although detailed atmospheric degradation pathways for the test substance do not appear to have been elucidated, the primary atmospheric transformation pathway for hydrofluorocarbons is hydrogen abstraction (Wallington TJ, Schneider WF, Worsnop DR, Nielsen OJ, Sehested J, Debruyn WJ, and Shorter JA (1994).
