A short-term toxicity freshwater study with invertebrates is available for reaction mass of Amines, coco alkyl and ß-Alanine, N-(2-carboxyethyl)-, N-coco alkyl derivs. and ß-Alanine, N-coco alkyl derivs.. Additionally, a marine short-term toxicity study with invertebrates is available and is included in this dossier.

 

Gancet et al (2001) conducted a (Klimisch 3) study following OECD 202 methods. Less than 24hr old Daphnia magna were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0, 0.04, 0.06, 0.095, 0.15, 0.24, 0.39, 0.63, and 1 mg/L of the test chemical with solvent for 48 hours under static conditions. The 48– hour EC50 was 0.25 mg/L. based on immobilization.Since the test substance was in 31% solvent, the actual effect concentration (48hr LC50), based on active ingredient was calculated to be 0.1725 mg/L. This study was deemed unreliable due to study was performed with isopropanol, no chemical analysis was done to confirm test concentrations and the study was not conducted according to GLP.

 

Torp (1997) conducted a (Klimisch 3) GLP compliant study following ISO TC 147/SC51WG2 (1990) methods. The marine invertebrate, Acartia tonsa were exposed to the test substance (purity unknown) at nominal concentrations of 0, 0.1, 0.3, 1.0, 2.7, and 9.3 mg/L for 48 hrs in saltwater system. The 48-h LC50 was 0.8 mg/L, based on mortality. The study is deemed unreliable as the purity of the test substance is unknown and test concentrations were not measured.

 

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates studies are available for reaction mass of Amines, coco alkyl and ß-Alanine, N-(2-carboxyethyl)-, N-coco alkyl derivs. and ß-Alanine, N-coco alkyl derivs. However, these tests were performed without chemical analyses due to the absence of the suitable analytical method at the time these tests were performed. Due to the problems expected to produce stable test solutions the reliability of these results is seriously questioned. Therefore, this study is waived in accordance with Annex VII, 9.1.1 column 2 paragraph 2 of the REACH regulation. A long-term aquatic toxicity study on invertebrates is available.
