Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

According to OECD 310 and 301A tests, N,N,N',N'-tetramethyltrimethylenediamine (TMPDA) can be considered as not readily biodegradable. But two tests performed according to OECD 302B guideline using activated sludge taken from a BASF waste water treatment plant treating industrial sewage showed 99% of degradation after 20 and 21 days. This it can be concluded that TMPDA is not persistent.

Due to the lack of hydrolysable groups, TMPDA is not subject to hydrolysis.

Based on intrinsic properties of TMPDA (high water solubility and very low log Pow), the substance is not expected to bioaccumulate in organism tissues. For the same reasons, the substance is not expected to sorb en soil particles. Indeed, the Koc of TMPDA has been determined using a calculation method developed for ionizable organic chemicals. Log Koc has been determined to be 2.05.
