Description of key information

Sample weight remains stable till to 320°C in air

Additional information

Thermal stability on 133-66-4 was investigated by:

1)     Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC),

2)     Thermogravimetric analisys (TGA).

1)     DSC: sample (7-8 mg) were closed in Aluminium pan and heated from 40°C to 400°C at 10°C/minute heating rate. DSC profile shows an endotermic event from 100°C to 200°C with two maxima that is due to water desorption. From 320°C an exothermic deflection of the base line clearly indicate thermal decomposition of the optical brightener.

2)     TGA: sample were heated in inert atmosphere (Nitrogen) from 40 to 850°C at 20°C heating rate. TGA loss profile confirms the water release at lower temperatures. Sample weight remains stable till to 330°C. At higher temperature a progressive weight loss is due to the sample decomposition.
