The substance moderately hydrolyse in water to form 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propanethiol and ethanol. A measured log Kow of 2.7 at 20°C and pH 7.6 - 7.7 was determined for the substance using OECD 107 and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered reliable and selected as key study. This value is supported by a predicted log Kow of 3.1 using a validated QSAR estimation method. The log Kow of the silanol hydrolysis product has been calculated using a validated QSAR.

Ethanol has a measured log Kow of -0.3 (Hansch C 1995)
