Description of key information

The tetraethylene glycol substance has been shown to meet OECD criteria for ready biodegradability in the OECD 301A: DOC Die-Away test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Several supporting studies are included which have evaluated the ready- and inherent biodegradability of the substance. These studies confirm the intrinsic biodegradability of the substance, and indicate that rate and extent of biodegradation are generally increased with acclimation (prior exposure) of microorganisms to the substance.
