Description of key information

BASF, 1981 - Readily biodegradability_DIN 38 409 part 43/H5 (Determination of Biological Oxygen Demand; BOD): 75 % degradation within 5 days - readily biodegradable

Additional information

Choline chloride was found to be readily biodegradable based on an experiment conducted according to German standard DIN 38 409 (Part 43) and H5 (Determination of Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)) (BASF AG, 1984).

Based on this result, no further investigations concerning biodegradability are triggered. Studies in water and sediment as well as for soil can be waived in accordance to REACH, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.2, column 2; REACH, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.4, column 2 and REACH, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.3, column 2, respectively.
