Description of key information

The long-term study with aquatic inverbrates is waived due to exposure considerations. The test is not required as the risk assessment based on results of aquatic short-term tests reveals acceptable effects of calcium sulphidoacetate on aquatic organisms.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 in Annex IX of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, long-term toxicity tests with aquatic organisms are not needed if the outcome of the chemical safety assessment indicates no unacceptable effects on aquatic organisms. In a first step, the PNEC for the aquatic environment is derived from tests on short-term toxicity. As the risk characterisation ratios for the aquatic compartment are below 1 (please refer to the chemical safety report), the effect of calcium sulphidoacetate on aquatic organisms does not need to be investigated further and the PNECaqua does not need to be refined based on higher tier, i.e. long-term toxicity studies.
