Additional information

Studies with freshwater fish, daphnids and algae as well as with aquatic microorganisms are available and thus, PNEC aqua and PNEC STP are based on test results and respective assessment factors as recommended in the Technical Guidance Document (ECHA, 2008). The compartments sediment and soil are not relevant for the risk assessment as ammonium thioglycolate has only low potential for adsorption and thus, the exposure of sediment dwelling and terrestrial organisms is low. The hazard to terrestrial vertebrates due to secondary poisoning is also considered to be negligible as ammonium thioglycolate has low potential for bioaccumulation indicated by a log Pow below 3.
