Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the butylene oligomers category, the C12 streams are considered readily biodegradable and therefore this endpoint has been waived. The 28 day NOEC for C8 streams is 100 mg/L based on nominal concentrations. The 56 day NOEC for C16 streams is 23.5 mg/L based on nominal concentrations.

Additional information

Based on a proprietary study, C12 members of this category are considered to be readily biodegradable and therefore, this endpoint has been waived for C12 streams in the butylenes oligomers category. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the activated sludge respiration inhibition test does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are in the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant. Based on proprietary studies, C8 and C16 members of this category are considered to be not readily biodegradable and therefore the waiver does not apply to these streams in the butylenes oligomers category. For the C8 and C16 streams, this endpoint has been completed using the results of the toxicity control vessel from the GLP-compliant, guideline biodegradation studies. The 28 day NOEC for Hydrocarbons, C4, 1,3-butadiene-free, polymd., dibutylene fraction was 100 mg/L based on nominal concentrations. The 56 day NOEC for Hydrocarbons, C4, 1,3-butadiene-free, polymd., tetraisobutylene fraction, hydrogenated was 23.5 mg/L based on nominal concentrations.
