Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Calculated BCF values for representative streams within this category ranged from 314-1882.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
1 098 dimensionless

Additional information

The BCF of susbstances in this category were calculated by means of QSARs and the log kow of the stream (USEPA 2008 BCFBAF v.3.0). These calculated BCF values ranged from 314 -1882.

Additional QSARs estimates (Veith et al, 1979) show log BCF for the stream in the range 2.09 (BCF 123) to 4.5 (BCF 31,622). A study from MITI (1987) indicated BCF values for triisobutylene of 1210 -2700 at a concentration of 500 µg/L and 920 -3340 at a concentration of 50 µg/L. Limited information was available for this study.

The mean of the BCF values from the estimates of BCFBAF v.3.0 for the category is 1098 and this has been used to complete the 'key value for chemical safety assessment'
