Additional information

Skin irritation:

A study in rabbits reported moderately skin irritating properties of the test substance (IUCLID, 2000). Though formally (as secondary source) not assignable, the study is regarded as useful for classification: The original report is not available, but clear effects are reported under exposure conditions, which are in accordance with current guidelines. Therefore the substance has to be classified as skin irritant. The classification as corrosive substance is not supported by the available data.

Eye and respiratory irritation:

There is no information available. Due to the irritating properties on skin, a similar response has to be supposed on eyes and respiratory tract. Additionally, this susbstance is classified as H315, H319, H335 in the GESTIS database. Therefore, a classification should consider these endpoints.

Justification for selection of skin irritation / corrosion endpoint:
Though formally (as secondary source) not assignable, the study is regarded as useful for classification

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: moderately irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available information, the submission substance is classified Skin irritation category 2 according to CLP (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008). The data indicate a classification as Irritating to skin (R38) according to DSD-DPD (Council Directive 67/548/EEC).

No data are available with respect to irritation of eye and respiratory tract. (CLP and DSD-DPD). Based on the substance property as irritating to skin classification for Eye irritation category 2 as well as Specific Target Organ Toxicity after single exposure Category 3 (STOT SE Cat. 3; target organ: respiratory tract) according to CLP might be necessary. According to DSD-DPD classification would be Irritating to eyes (R36) and Irritating to respiratory system (R37).

In the GETIS Database this substance is classified as H315, H319 and H335
