Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Biodegradation in water: screening tests

HMX is not readily biodegradable (HLS, 2013, REI0021). HMX is not classified as environmentally hazardous.

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests

The test substance entering the water is not likely to sorb onto suspended solids and sediment based upon the calculated Kow (CSR section 1.3 Physico-Chemical Properties), mitigating exposure to sediment. See supporting sorption data (CSR section 4.2.1 Adsorption/desorption) and exposure assessment information (CSR Chapter 9).We therefore do not expect any environmental exposure and propose to waive this test.

Biodegradation in soil

Based on the information on the substance properties, HMX is not classified as environmentally hazardous and it has a low a low potential for adsorption to the soil compartment based upon the calculated Kow (CSR section 1.3 Physico-Chemical Properties) .We therefore do not expect any environmental exposure and propose to waive this test.
