Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: well documented GLP based study in accordance with standardized guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
120 s
Moisture (wt %):
35.7
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

After treating the sample with the flame of the burner, it melted but did not ignite. Thus, the result of the preliminary test was interpreted to be negative.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test substance TC65 melted but did not ignite after treatment with the flame of the burner. Accordning to guidline A10 criteria, it can be classified as not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

Flammability of TC65 was determined in accordance with the EU method A.10. The sample was treated with the flame of the burner for

30, 60 and 120s. Three replicates were performed. The test substance melted but did not ignite. Hence, no further experiments were conducted. According to guidline A10 criteria, TC65 can be classified as not highly flammable.

Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
other: no burning

1. Preliminary test: Burning time (200 mm test distance):

No burning. Therefore, the preliminary screening test is negative

Because of the result of the preliminary test, the test substance is not considered highly flammable

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test substance is not highly flammable.

Description of key information

The test substance is not highly flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Because of the result of the preliminary test, the test substance is not considered highly flammable.
