Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge was determined in a test according to OECD guideline 209. Activated sludge was exposed to the test item for 3h and the respiration rate was determined. The effect concentrations were as follows: EC10 = 95 mg/L, EC20 = 160 mg/L, EC50 = 400 mg/L, and EC80 > 1000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
95 mg/L

Additional information

The respiration inhibition of the test substance was assessed in a key study according to the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 209. Non-adapted activated sludge from a domestic sewage treatment plant was exposed for 3h to the test chemical. The nominal test concentrations were 1000, 500, 250, 125, and 62.5 mg/L. The effect concentrations after 3h based on the nominal concentrations were as follows: EC10 = 95 mg/L, EC20 = 160 mg/L, EC50 = 400 mg/L, and EC80 > 1000 mg/L.
