Description of key information

Sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate is characterised as “readily biodegradable”.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data on biodegradation is available for sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate. However, data from the structural analogue sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate will be used instead (for details see Reporting Format as attached to the respective IUCLID entry and CSR Appendix A.1). In a GLP-compliant, OECD 301D guideline Closed Bottle Test >67.4% degradation is observed after 28 days (LISEC, 2003a). Therefore, it is assumed that also sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate is readily biodegradable.
