According to practical experience irritation of skin, respiratory system and eye may occur.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In reliable studies according OECD 404 and OECD 405 with 2-chlorobenzotrichloride irritation effects to skin but no relevant effects to the eye have been reported.

Based upon practical experience 2-chlorobenzotrichloride may induce irritation to the eye, to the respiratory system and to skin in case of partial hydrolytic decomposition with formation of hydrochloric acid.

While no statistically reliable information about this observation is available it is however regarded as conclusive for classification and labelling.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based upon reliable study results on skin irritation and practical experience 2-chlorobenzotrichloride is regarded as irritant to skin, the respiratory system and the eye.
