Additional information

No relevant studies are available for decanoic acid, mixed esters with heptanoic acid, octanoic acid and trimethylolpropane, however, ready biodegradability studies are available for two closely related structural analogues (CAS 11138-60-6 and CAS 78-16-0). Both studies showed the test substances to be readily biodegradable therefore decanoic acid, mixed esters with heptanoic acid, octanoic acid and trimethylolpropane is considered to be readily biodegradable by read-across. Consequently simulation testing on sediment and soil is not required.

A report justifying the read-across approach is included in IUCLID Chapter 13.
