Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The determination of the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) was based on OECD Guideline no. 117: "Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) High Performance Liquid Chromatographic (HPLC) method" (1989).
In the HPLC chromatograms of 3-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylbutyl 2-ethyl-2-methylheptaneperoxoate , using detection at 210 nm, one large and 4 smaller test substance peaks were observed. It was assumed that the large peak derived from the major component of test substance whereas the small peaks derived from impurities.
The corresponding Pow values were calculated to be 1.58x10E04 (log Pow = 4.2) for the major component.

Additional information

The determination of the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) was based on OECD Guideline no. 117: "Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) High Performance Liquid Chromatographic (HPLC) method" (1989).

In the HPLC chromatograms of 3-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylbutyl 2-ethyl-2-methylheptaneperoxoate, using detection at 210 nm, one large and 4 smaller test substance peaks were observed. It was assumed that the large peak derived from the major component of test substance whereas the small peaks derived from impurities.

The corresponding Pow values were calculated to be 1.58x104(log Pow = 4.2) for the major component and 2.00x104(log Pow = 4.3), 3.16x104(log Pow = 4.5), 5.01x104(log Pow= 4.7) and 39.8x104(log Pow = 5.6) for the impurities.

The test was performed at 22.7-22.9°C.
