First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air symptomatic treatment. In all cases

remove any contaminated clothing and launder before reuse.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with plenty of soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Foam, carbon dioxide, dry

agents and water are suitable.

Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Products of combustion may

contain oxides of carbon and sulphur together with some

soot.

Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a

self-contained breathing apparatus are recommended.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from the immediate vicinity. Wear

suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Dampen down

powder spillages with water. Absorb liquid spillages with a

suitable inert material eg sand or soil. In both cases

transfer the spillage to labelled waste containers or use

an approved sealed industrial  vacuum machine. Wash the

spillage area with detergent and water. The substance

should be disposed of by incineration or by landfill in

accordance with local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in

accordance with the principles of good industrial hygiene

and any local legislation. Where exposure cannot be

adequately controlled by use of engineering controls,

personal protective equipment eg eye protection, chemical-

resistant gloves, a dust mask conforming to BS 6016, type I

(prEN 149, FFP Grade 1) and protective clothing is

recommended.

Storage: Store in polythene bags in fibre drums at ambient

temperature in the dark. When not in use drums should be

kept tightly closed.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental spillages is

not technically feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers, waste material or spillages of

solutions mixed with inert material may be disposed of by

landfill in accordance with local regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration at an authorised facility equipped with waste

gas treatment to remove sulphur oxides is possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended. However, the substance is not likely to

have adverse effects on treatment plants.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from preparations is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Articles containing the substance may be disposed of as

normal domestic/office waste.
