Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a non-GLP OECD 209 study without analytical monitoring, a 180-min EC20 value of >1000 mg/L was observed in domestic activated sludge (BASF AG, 2004). The key study is supported by a Pseudomonas putida growth inhibition test performed by ASTA Medica AG (1993). The 16 -h EC10 was determined at 7700 mg/L, the EC50 is above the highest tested concentration of 10000 mg/L.
