Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if
irritation develops.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and plenty of water. Seek medical attention
if irritation develops.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, carbon dioxide and dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and
hydrogen chloride gas.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity. Wear suitable
protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (eg sand or
soda ash). Carefully transfer the spillage to labelled waste
containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.
Dispose of waste material by incineration or landfill in
accordance with local regulations. Clean the spillage area
with water and detergent.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be handled and used in conditions of
good industrial hygiene. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Suitable protective clothing (EN 368), chemical protective
gloves (prEN374) and eye protection (prEN166) should be
worn. When necessary appropriate respiratory protection
should be used. e.g.an organic vapour mask conforming to
EN405 FFA2.

Storage: Store in a dry well-ventilated area.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25 litre square round plastic (HMW-HDPE) drum.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg sand or soda ash) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local
regulations.(A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration at a
suitable facility. Waste gas treatment to remove hydrogen
chloride gas should be fitted. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,
adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be
unlikely as the substance has been shown not to be unduly
toxic to sewage micro-organisms.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
