Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Clean mouth, nose, throat. Cough up. Take to fresh air.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water. If mechanical irritation persists seek
medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water and soap.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. If large quantities are swallowed
seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: All extinguishing agents are allowed.

Product arising from burning: On heating above 300 °C, approximately up to 1%, by weight,
hydrogenfluoride or other gaseous fluoride may be emitted.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Self containing breathing apparatus: gas/vapour filter type
B (grey: against acid gases, re:NEN-EN 141)

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In case of a large spill (e.g. 10 kg): take precautions as
mentioned in 2.3.10. Carefully collect the main part of the
spilled metaloxide by mechanical means (e.g. shovel) and
transfer to a container (waste code l, re: 6.1.10). Residues
of spills can be cleaned by a damp rag.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use local exhaust or, if not available, take respiratory
safety measures (powder is mainly respirable). Use safety
filter (P2S; ref NEN-EN143), gloves and goggles. No other
safety measures are required.

Storage: Store in closed plastic (e.g. PE) containers

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Fluorine doped tin (IV) oxide is packed in 10 l polyethylene
containers.

Colour toner: 500 g in approximately 0.75 l flasks.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: A613 recovery by chemical purification

All substance waste will be treated by a specialised
company. Hereby metal will be recovered electrochemically.
(Océ internal waste code: I)

Substance containing toner waste is produced at the colour
toner production plant. Océ strives for returning all
substance containing toner waste from our copiers to Venlo,
e.g. through our service organisation. Both substance
containing toner waste streams will also be treated by the
same specialised company. Hereby metal will be recovered
electrochemically, as well (Océ internal waste code: II)

A665: Incineration, whereby substance is immobilized in
vitrified slags.

All low metal containing waste (Océ internal waste code:
III) will be incinerated at Edelchemie Panheel in a
specialised process, whereby metal is incorporated in
vitrified slags. The slags can be used as road-surfacing
material.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Substance not hazardous - neutralisation not necessary (and
not possible)

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: A waste stream is generated when the substance is produced.
This is under investigation (2.0.20).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: See under 6.1.10

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: See section 6.1.20

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: none.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Copies contain on average 6 mg substance (1.2 mg/g).
Substance containing copies on paper can be recycled.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Substance not hazardous - neutralisation not necessary.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Colour copies will preferably be recycled (paper) or may be
incinerated or discharged as landfill.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: see above

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Colour copies will preferably be recycled (paper) or may
incinerated or discharged as landfill.
