SOLIDIFICATION POINT

In compliance with Commission Directive 92/69/EEC - A1 method (1992) OECD Guideline No. 102 (1995)

Remark: the phase transition from the liquid state to the solid state of the test item is entitled “solidification point” instead of “freezing point” due to the temperature at which this transition occurred (25°C).

AMENDMENTS Amendment No. 1: a first assay on the Kofler hot bench was done, the melting point of the test item was lower than 50°C, the melting point test could not be performed due to the temperature range of the Kofler hot bench (from 50°C). Thus, a solidification point test (A01F) was performed.

The test item was melted in a water bath (at about 50°C), then the solidification point was done on the liquid test item to determine the solidification point.

DEVIATIONS The following deviations to the standard operating procedure were recorded: The test was performed directly in a cooling bath instead of a Dewar vessel. The precision of the thermometer (DEFITRACES No. PT02) was 0.1°C instead of 0.5°C. These deviations were considered not to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.

RESULTS Solidification point (Assay No. 1): 26.1°C ± 0.1°C Solidification point (Assay No. 2): 24.5°C ± 0.1°C Solidification point (Assay No. 3): 24.3°C ± 0.1°C

CONCLUSION The mean solidification point of the test item was: 25.0°C ± 1.1°C.
