Description of key information

Consistingly over all three runs, the auto-ignition temperature of isononyl benzoate was 370 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The auto-ignition temperature is the lowest temperature at which the test item will ignite when mixed with air under the conditions defined in the test method [ EU test method A.15, Directive 92/69/EEC, Offical Journal L 383 A 1992]. The test method determines the minimum temperature of the inner surface of an enclosure that will result in ignition of gas, vapour or liquid injected into the enclosure. In a preliminary run, the approximate temperature range of the auto-ignition temperature was estimated and than specified in a main study consisting of three runs. The temperature, beginning with 400 °C was decreased in steps of 5 °C until no ignition took place anymore. Consistingly over all three runs, the auto-ignition temperature of isononyl benzoate was 370 °C.
