Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There is no data available measured on the test substance itself " Pentadecane, 7-methylene mixed with 1-tetradecene, dimers and trimers, hydrogenated", which is a C28 -80H58 -162 saturated branched alphaolefin oligomer of number average molecular weight 443 (Mw=448) but data is available on three analogue alphaolefins that are oligomerised and hydrogenated 1-decene. These span a number average molecular weight of 287 -528 and whilst linear rather than branched are likely to behave similarly for these end points.

SKIN SENSITISATION

The table below indicates the results from the analogue substances:

 Analogue Mn Classification
 287 No hypersensitivity
 443 No hypersensitivity
528  No hypersensitivity

There is no indication of hypersensitivity within this class of substances across a molecular weight range which spans that of interest for the substance of interest. In can be concluded that the substance " Pentadecane, 7-methylene mixed with 1-tetradecene, dimers and trimers, hydrogenated" has low skin sensitisation potential. From a quantitative perspective, the study used 0.5ml over an 8cm2 patch, which is equivalent to 50mg/cm2

Migrated from Short description of key information:
There is no data on the substance of interest but data exists on three analogue 'read across' substances. See discussion section.
