Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If any symptom: Move to fresh air. If unconscious keep

breathing passage open.

If breathing irregular or has stopped start resuscitation.

Get medical help as situation dictates.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash eye with plenty of water for several minutes, with

eyelids held open.

If irritation persists seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin using soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Not a normal route of exposure. Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire, use sand. Never use water and avoid dust

cloud formation when extinguishing.

Appendix 17 (Safety data sheet), point 5.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and metal oxide fume.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear sef-contained respirator. Wear fully protective

impervious suit.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Person-related safety precautions:

Wear protective equipment.

Keep unprotected persons away.

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Keep away from ignition sources.

Measures for environmental protection:

Do not allow material to be released to the environment

without proper governmental permits.

Measures for cleaning/collecting:

Do not flush with water or aqueous clening agents into

drain.

Damp domwn material and sweep into clean container,

preferably metal drum.

Use pur bristle and preferably shovel. If ordinary metal

shovel used, avoid scraping in case of sparks.

Keep away from ignition sources.

Handling and storage

Handling: Follow generally accepted industrial practice for good

hygiene and handling of metal powder.

See, appendix 17 (Safety data sheet), point 7.

Personal protective eqipment:

Breathing equipment: Use suitable respirator or mask to

avoid inhalation of powder.

Protection of hands: Impervious gloves.

Eye protection: Safety glasses recommended for dust.

Body protection: Protective work clothing.

General protective and hygenic measures:

The usual precautionary measures for hanling chemicals

should be followed.

Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed. Remove all

soiled and contaminated clothing immedialtely. Wash hands

before breaks and at the end of work.

See, appendix 17 (Safety data sheet), point 8.

Storage: Store in cool place within tightly sealed container.

See, appendix 17 (Safety data sheet), point 7.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: In drums of steel (wrapped in plastic cover), with volume

appoximately 50 liters (1/4 drum).

Remarks:
Transport code: UN-no: 3089
Transport: Transports of powder at the production site: Avoid
formation of dust. Follow generally accepted industrial
practice for good hygiene and handling of metal powder. The
production process is closed therefore the risk of contact
of powder is low.

Transports of powder at the user: The user of the product
must make their own assessments of the risk encountered in
their own individual workplace.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Burning Maxthal reacts explosively with water.

Maxthal may form explosive mixtures with oxidizing agents.

Dust can form explosive mixture with air.

Chemical reaction with water: Never use water fore fire fighting, in case of fire use

sand, see appendix 17 point 5.

Dust explosion: Material in powder form is flammable.

Ignition may occur from FLAME, SPARKS or EXCESSIVE HEAT.

Fine particles mau be ignited by FRICTION or STATIC

DISCHARGE.

Dust can form explosive mixture with air.

The minimum ignition energy of dustcloud is determined to

50-100 mJ, see appendix 19.

Dust explosion determined by test: Y
