Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove promptly to fresh air.  If not breathing, administer

artificial respiration; administer oxygen if breathing is

difficult and seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush immediately with copious amounts of water or saline,

including under eyelids.  Continue washing for at least 15

minutes.  If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical assistance.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon and nitrogen.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protection by suitable clothing and positive pressure,

self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear personal protection.  Collect spillage, avoiding dust

generation (e.g. wet cleaning or filtered vacuum cleaner).

Avoid wet waste discharge to drains/surface water.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance will exist in the EU only in the toner

preparation.  Packaging of this preparation will be designed

so as to minimise exposure during normal use, and no

specific precautions or protective clothing are recommended.

Storage: In a cool place, avoiding direct sunlight.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The preparation will be packaged in 200g lots, contained in

sealed plastic bottles: these will be packed in batches of

10 in corrugated cardboard.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: The commercial preparation (toner) is a fine,

non-aggregating powder (particle size < 10 microns).

Although not flammable, this might pose a hazard if allowed

to form a localised dust atmosphere.  However, its packaging

and controlled use prevent significant dust generation.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only be supplied in the EU as a

preparation and in the public domain.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Mix with combustible material, followed by controlled

incineration. Waste gas scrubbing to remove oxides of

nitrogen should be used.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: It is expected that, after use, the substance (in unused

toner material and on printed papers) will be collected in

general waste and disposed of by incineration or landfill.

Some release from printed papers during paper recycling may

occur (see Risk Assessment, Annex 3).
