Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
The lethality study was performed on male mice. Aqueous solutions (0.5 ml) of the compounds were administered by stomach intubation. All fatalities occurred within 3 days and were attributed to the crown ether. The LD16, LD50, and LD84 were determined by the method of Litchfield and Wilcoxon (1949).
