Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Using proper respiratory protection, immediately remove the

affected victim from exposure.  Administer artificial

respiration if breathing is stopped.  Keep at rest.  Obtain

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes.  Obtain

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately flush skin with water and soap if available.

Remove contaminated clothing, including shoes.  Obtain

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Obtain medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water spray to cool fire exposed surfaces and to protect

personnel.  Shut off "fuel" to fire.

Use foam, dry chemical or water spray to extinguish fire.

Product arising from burning: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide and

oxides of sulphur and nitrogen.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Self contained, positive pressure breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Land spill

Contain spill with sand or earth.  Recover by pumping,

suitable absorbent or sweeping up into suitable containers.

Dispose, ensuring conformity with local disposal

regulations.

Water spill

Alert other shipping and relevant port or authority.  Keep

public away.  Shut off source and confine if possible.

Remove from surface by skimming or with suitable absorbents.

Dispose, ensuring conformity with local disposal

regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear chemical resistant gloves (PVC or nitrile), splash

resistant goggles, chemical resistant apron, jacket and

rubber boots.  A half face filter mask should be worn if

exposure levels are high.

Local exhaust ventilation is recommended to control process

emissions near the source.

Storage: Keep container closed.  Handle containers with care.  Open

slowly in order to control possible pressure release.

Containers should be stored in a cool well-ventilated place

away from incompatible materials.

Do not store or open containers near an open flame, sources

of heat or sources of ignition.  Protect from direct

sunlight.

Recommended storage temperature between 40.0 and 60.0 °C.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Stainless steel bulk containers and drums.

Finished lubricant is normally packaged in containers of 1

quart to 55 gallon volumes.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The test substance is formulated into a finished lubricant

at 0.1-0.5%  The test substance does not lose its chemical

identity in the finished product, however, it would be

extremely difficult to recover or recycle the test substance

from the lubricant due to the nature of its chemistry and

the presence of other chemical additives.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Incineration is recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not appropriate.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the preferred method of disposal.  Code 660.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, the public at large are not exposed to the

substance as notified, but to a formulated product

containing 0.1-0.4% of the substance.
