Description of key information

In the inherent biodegradability of FAT - 20044/B was determined in a Zahn-Wellens test according to the OECD Guideline 302B and the EEC-Directive 87/302/EEC, L133 (pp. 99-105), May 1988. The test was performed in compliance with the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Regulations of Switzerland. FAT 20044/B and the reference substance Diethylenglycol respectively were tested in concentrations of 150 mg/l DOC. The biodegradation of FAT 20044/B after 28 days was 0 % while that of reference substance after 14 days was 98.9 %.In another study, biological oxygen demand (BOD) of FAT 20044/B was carried out according to EU method C.5. Based on the study results, the BOD5 of FAT 20044/B corrected by the blank control is 8 mg O2/g while the chemical oxygen demand (COD) with FAT 20044/B is 927 mg O2/g. The ration of BOD/COD is <0.5 so FAT 20044/B is not considered as readily biodegradable.
