- For the substance SODIUM BIS(TRIFLUOROMETHYLSULFONYL)IMIDE a new chemical substance notification in China has been prepared under the Regulation ‘Measures on the Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances' (MEE Order No. 12 of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the P.R. China, also known as ‘China REACH’). Under this regulation a short-term toxicity test in fish is part of the data requirements for substances that are produced or imported in volumes <10 t/y. For this reason a short-term toxicity test in fish was performed at Jiangsu Yaxin Tech. Co. Ltd. The results of the study were included in the dossier and serve as the valid testing for this endpoint.

- Solubility pre-test results showed that the solubility of the test substance in water was more than 1 g/L, and the stock solution method was adopted in the test.
In the range-finding test, 2.0022 g (0 h), 2.0020 g (24 h), 2.0022 g (48 h) and 2.0020 g (72 h) test substance were dissolved in 2 L test water, respectively. The stock solutions were agitated with speed of 500 rpm for 30 min at 25 ºC. The test stock solution of 1000 mg/L was prepared. Test substance was completely dissolved and the solution was colorless and clear.
In the limit test, 1.5017 g (0 h), 1.5017 g (24 h), 1.5016 g (48 h) and 1.5019 g (72 h) test substance were added into 1500 mL test water, respectively. The stock solutions were agitated with speed of 500 rpm for 30 min at 25 ºC. The test stock solution of 1000 mg/L was prepared. Under semi-static conditions, the acute toxicity of test substance was evaluated to Rare minnow (Gobiocypris rarus) according to the guidelines:“The guidelines for the testing of chemicals” (HJ/T 153-2004), “The Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals-Effects on Biotic Systems” (the 2nd edition. Beijing: China Environment Press. 2013); with reference to Procedure 203 of the “Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals” of the OECD: “Fish, Acute Toxicity Test” (2019).
A range-finding test and then a limit test was performed respectively. Nominal concentrations of 1.20 mg/L, 12.0 mg/L and 120 mg/L were used in the range-finding test, while the nominal concentration of 120 mg/L was used in the limit Test. In limit test (96 h), water samples taken from the control and the treatments in the limit test at 0, 96 h and 24, 48, 72 h before and after renewal were analysed by HPLC-MS/MS. During the limit test (96 h), the analytical results showed that the concentration of the test substance was in the range of 81.0 ~ 125 mg/L (the geometric mean measured concentration was 101 mg/L).
In the range-finding test, 5 fish per treatment and no replicate were used. And 10 fish per treatment with no replicate wereused in the limit test. The test fish were exposed for 96 hours to the test solution.
During the limit test, the loading rate was 0.3954 g wet weight fish per litre of test medium, the pH values of the control mediums and test mediums were between 7.69 to 7.86, the dissolved oxygen (DO) values varied from 80.7% to 103.7% of the air saturation, the temperature of the test mediums were maintained in the range of 23.1 ºC to 23.7 ºC, light intensity was 597 to 810 Lux, the total hardness was 110 ~ 118 mg (CaCO3)/L, and all fish in the control group were normal. With the same conditions, potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) was used as the positive control substance, and the resulting 24 h-LC50 was 264 mg/L.
