Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
bulk density
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
March 2018
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
A COL FP SH500 pilot filter press (Andritz) was used to determine the cake density of the substance. Two chambers were used, and membrane filtrations was utilized to squeeze pore water from the cake. Each chamber had a filtration area of 0.3m2. The volume of the filter cake after squeezing was determined by multiplying half of the filtration area by measured thickness of the cake after membrane squeezing. The mass of the filter cake was recorded on a Mettler Toledo PB3002-S/FACT balance, with 0,01 g precision.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: in-house method

Type:
bulk density
Density:
1 700 g/L
Temp.:
40 °C
Conclusions:
The bulk density was determined to be 1.7 kg/dm3.
Executive summary:

The bulk density of the UVCB substance Sulphide precipitate was determined after filtration

in a filter press to ca. 1,7 kg/dm3 with a moisture content of ca. 45wt%. The density will change with changes is dryness due to ageing, packing etc. the density is reported for a representative sample of the newlt produced UVCB substance.
