General Information

Name:
Naphtha fraction, waste plastic derived, hydrothermal conversion
Implementation:
EU
Type of classification:
self-classification
Remarks:

For the classification of the substance the document "Hazard classification and labelling of petroleum substances in the European Economic Area - 2017" prepared by concawe was used.

Based on the available information on the substance, the classification for the group of substances "Low boiling point naphthas (Gasolines) (Naphtha)" is applied. The available information on the substance meet the definition of the group as follows: Waste plastic can be seen as product of crude petroleum, the manufacturing process of the substance is in accordance with the mentioned refinery process options  (atmospheric distillation, catalytic cracking), the substance composition fits the hydrocarbon types of the group (linear and branched alkanes and alkenes, cycloalkanes and mono-aromatic hydrocarbons), the carbon number range is C4 to C12 and the boiling point is between 40°C to 210°C.

One deviation applies: According to CLP the content of benzene 0.1 % requires a classification for Carc. 1A instead of Carc. 1B.
