Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guideline:
other: internal guideline: differential calorimetric analysis (GEMO CMP-321-00)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
-> DSC
- Apparatus:
Labsys DSC / TG SETARAM, Thermo Scientific EZ Cool 80 Cooler
- Procedure:
GEMO CMP-321-00

-> TEST CONDITIONS
Atmosphere Sample: Nitrogen 90 mL / min
Temperature rise rate: 5 ° C / min
Temperature range: 30-500 ° C
Capsule type: 100μL alumina
Sample: About 10 mg

When the temperature of a material is progressively increased, it can undergo a change of physical state such as a melting or a transition from one crystalline form to another, or chemically react. Heat is then either absorbed (endothermic reaction) or released (exothermic reaction). DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) is designed to determine the enthalpies of these processes by measuring the differential heat flux needed to maintain the sample material and an inert reference at the same temperature.
