Endpoint:
particle size distribution (granulometry)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
8.11.2019 - 26.3.2020
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 110 (Particle Size Distribution / Fibre Length and Diameter Distributions) - Method B: Fibre Length and Diameter Distributions
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Particle size distribution is determined by manual and mechanical sieving. Preliminary test is performed because of different methods of sieving are used depending on the aperture size of the sieves. Main test is performed on each fraction of the test item obtained by the preliminary test. These fractions are subdivided with test sieves of different aperture sizes and the particle size distribution of the test item is calculated.

Mass loss during sieving process approx. 1.2%.

Conclusions:
After the preliminary test, it was shown that the majority of the particles (99.9%) was between the receiver pan and 1 mm. So, the principal sieving was made lower than 1 mm.

After the main test, it was shown that the majority of the particles was between 32 µm and 710 µm (refer to graph attached).
Executive summary:

Particle size distribution is determined by manual and mechanical sieving.  Preliminary test was performed to determine the aperture size of the sieves.   Main test was performed on each fraction of the test item obtained by the preliminary test. The fraction were subdivided with test sieves of different aperture sizes and the particle size distribution of the test item is calculated.

It was shown that the majority of the particles was between  32 µm and 710 µm.

Description of key information

Sieving test of 2-Amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamid showed major fraction of particles was between  32 µm and 710 µm.
