First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice

IF exposed or concerned: Get medical advice/attention.

If inhaled

If breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. Call a physician immediately.

In case of skin contact

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash off immediately with plenty of water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

In case of eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

If swallowed

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.

Notes to physician

Hazards: The product causes irritation of eyes, skin and mucous membranes.

Symptoms: Cough, Lachrymation

Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media

Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry powder, Sand, Foam, Water spray

Extinguishing media which mustnot be used for safety reasons

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, its combustion products, or released gases

Gaseous hydrogen chloride (HCl). Carbon oxides

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighting

Personal protection through wearing a tightly closed chemical protection suit and a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Additional information on firefighting

Remove all sources of ignition. Keep containers and surroundings cool with water spray. Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.Wear personal protective equipment. Wear as appropriate: Complete suit protecting against chemicals.

Remove all sources of ignition. Pay attention to flashback.

Environmental precautions

Environmental precautions Prevent spreading over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers). Avoid subsoil penetration. Suppress (knock down) gases/vapours/mists with a water spray jet. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations. After cleaning, flush away traces with water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling Refill and handle product only in closed system. Use only in an area containing explosion proof equipment. Handle under nitrogen, protect from moisture.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

In case of mist, spray or aerosol exposure wear suitable personal respiratory protection and protective suit. Vapours may form explosive mixture with air. Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/lighting/equipment. In the event of fire, cool tanks with water spray. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Storage space and container requirements

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Storage specifications Provide for sufficient ventilation, particularly in closed rooms. Protect from moisture. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.
