The 1:1 (by mass) mixture of the substance and cellulose was observed to have a mean pressure rise time greater than that of a 1:1 (by mass) mixture of 65% nitric acid and cellulose. Mean pressure rise time for the test substance mixture was 11.433 s. Mean pressure rise time for the reference mixture was 3.250 s.
