Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key information for classification

Degradation

Biodegradation: readily biodegradable (79% after 28 d, OECD 301B)

Aquatic acute toxicity

- Aquatic invertebrates (freshwater): EL50 (48 h): 15.32 mg/L (Daphnia magna, OECD 202, based on the geometric mean measured concentrations)

- Algae (freshwater): ErC50 (72 h) 17.61 mg/L (Desmodesmus subspicatus, OECD 201, based on the geometric mean measured concentrations)

Aquatic chronic toxicity

- Algae (freshwater): NOEC (72 h) 3.1 mg/L (Desmodesmus subspicatus, OECD 201, based on the geometric mean measured concentrations)

Conclusion on Classification

Based on the data above the substance (CAS 59272-84-3) is rapidly biodegradable. Acute toxicity data are available for two trophic levels (aquatic invertebrates and algae) whereas chronic toxicity was only investigated for aquatic algae. Based on the acute and chronic data from aquatic organisms the substance does not need to be classified or labelled according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (dated: 01.01.2017) and further amendments (ATPs).
